Canoe and Walking Safaris
4 Day Canoe and Walking Trail,
Mana
Pools National Park, Zimbabwe
Day 1
You will be transferred by light aircraft into
Rukomechi Airstrip in Mana Pools National Park in mid morning. After
lunch at Rukomechi at approximately 2.00 pm, after a safety briefing
with your guide, you will leave the Ruckomechi area in their Canadian
canoes and paddle downstream for about 12 kms to our mobile camp
in the Mana Pools National Park. The camp will have been set up
in advance and will continue to follow you by road each day.
Day 2 and 3
You will be awakened at dawn, with tea/coffee
and biscuits and set of by canoe before sunrise while the waters
are at their calmest, enjoy the dawn chorus and the rich and ever
changing morning light. the canoes contain a packed lunch and drinks
in cooler boxes. Paddle for a few hours and then walk into the game
rich floodplains returning to the canoes for a snack before continuing
downstream. A stop is made for a picnic lunch around 1300 hours.
with an optional walk after this. You will float into camp at around
sunrise.
Day 4
After a morning walk and breakfast at you will
set off by Land Rover to Chikwenya Airstrip to meet your air charter
to your next safari destination. You will have paddled the entire
length of Mana Pools National Park, approx. 80kms. This is the only
Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe that has been awarded the title of
a World Heritage site due to its incredible beauty and wildlife
concentrations.
